Cheryl Guizzetti's Obituary
Cheryl Anne Guizzetti (Edwards) passed away peacefully on December 23, 2023. With her family by her side, she bravely and gently fought until her passing from cancer. Cheryl was born on September 6, 1950, in Pasadena, California. She grew up and went to school in Sacramento, California and moved to the Pacific Northwest after college where she raised her children. Tacoma became home to her, and she came to love the area and the people.
Cheryl worked as an administrative executive at Buffelen Woodworking alongside her husband Joe for 35 years. She was a proud and loyal member of the Tacoma Yacht Club, as well as Shipmates. Through her work with the Bridge, she headed up many projects and events. Cheryl took pride and joy in her involvement with the Tacoma Yacht Club and built many lifelong friendships. Several of which resulted in a group referred to as the Travelers, who enjoyed traveling the world together. Joe and Cheryl were also avid boaters that sailed the Pacific Northwest, Canada, and Caribbean for decades. They recently became snowbirds and acquired their dream home in Scottsdale, Arizona. In addition to traveling and boating, Cheryl loved going for rides on the Harley-Davidson, rides in the supercar, reading, shopping, dining out at her favorite restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved spouse and best friend, Joe Guizzetti, her treasured children Michele Jorgensen and Matt Jorgensen, their spouses Erik Yoder and Holly Johnston and her precious grandchildren, Gavin Yoder, Max Yoder, Mercer Jorgensen, and Rainier Jorgensen. She is also survived by her mother; Dolores Edwards, brother; Steve Edwards and his wife Sally, and sister; Cindy De Ianni.
Cheryl was happiest when she was spending time with her grandchildren and watching their school and sports activities. They were the joy of her life. Cheryl will be remembered for her beautiful smile that lit up the room, passion for life, love of her family, and caring nature.
Cheryl will be forever missed by Joe as his life partner and soulmate. Joe wants to express his heart-felt joy for their deep abiding love and how every day they spent together was filled with tenderness, laughter, and gratitude.
A funeral service for Cheryl will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA. A graveside committal will take place following the funeral service. Following the services, there will be a reception at the Tacoma Yacht Club located at 5401 Yacht Club Road, Tacoma, WA 98407.
