Cheryl Ann Clevenberg's Obituary
Cheryl Ann Clevenberg, age 66, of Tacoma, passed away peacefully at her home on October 12, 2016.
Cheryl was born to Barbara and Gordon Clevenberg on October 10, 1950, in Silver Bow County, Montana. Gordon’s work as an ironworker in the International Ironworkers Union, Local 14, took Cheryl on several adventures across the country as a child, ultimately leading to the place she’d call home in Tacoma, Washington, where she attended Northeast Tacoma Elementary, Meeker Jr. High and Stadium High School.
In the late the 60’s Cheryl embarked on a journey of peace and love, traveling where the wind blew her, to music festivals and peace movements along the West Coast. She later found her love for warm water, palm trees and papayas while living in Honolulu, Hawaii, working as a bar manager in the early 70’s. While returning to Washington the spirit of Hawaii never left her heart, nor did expressing peace and love to others. You’d often find her wearing tie dye with peace sign earrings and loving anything coconut. She later fulfilled her dream of owning her own restaurant before establishing herself as business owner, private contractor and legal process server. This was not the easiest line of work nor clientele but what was most important to Cheryl was to live life on her terms, never missing an opportunity to be there for her sons, Greg Reiser and Tim Reiser.
To know Cheryl was to know unconditional love, whether family, friend or stranger in need, she was there for so many of us, never asking or expecting anything in return. She lived a rich life in service to others and sacrificed so much for her boys, granddaughter and friends that were like family to her. This was her reward and purpose. While her body grew weak her soul remained strong through her passing to heaven. Her last words were of love and gratitude to those around her. In thinking about it, that’s really a reflection of the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her. The world lost a kind soul on October 12, one of the best, but her spirit will live on in so many of us.
Cheryl was proceeded in death by her brother, Micheal J. Clevenberg; parents Gordon J. Clevenberg and Barbara L. Clevenberg; ex-husband and best friend, Bernie F. Dunayski. She is survived by her sons, Greg G. Reiser and Tim M. Reiser; granddaughter, Malia R. Reiser; stepson Christopher Dunayski, his wife Mitzi Dunayski and their children Christopher Jr., Gavin and Gabbi Dunayski.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 AM on October 29, 2016 at Mountain View Memorial Park in the Willow Room for close friends and family.
