Chellis R. Carr
Chellis was born in Tacoma, WA to Alvin and Daisy Carr. He lived in Tacoma his entire life, although he traveled far and wide on his vacations.
As a kid, he loved to roller skate and played drums in the school band. As an adult, he played the piano and organ.
He graduated from Lincoln High School. He joined the Service and was with the 11th Airborne, where he learned how to jump out of airplanes.
His long career was working for Coca-Cola to retirement. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge.
Chellis loved his sailboat, his motorcycle and his airplane. He gave friends and relatives many plane rides around the state
In the past 20 years his favorite entertainment was dancing to Bob Alek's Ballroom Band with his partner Helena Shelley.
He devoted time and money to Animal Rescue. He made news attending demonstrations regarding animal abuse.
He was predeceased by both parents and his brother Robert "Red" Carr and his sister Thea Carr.
Chellis is survived by his sister Frances McCauley in Michigan, Neices Patty Carr of Federal Way and Nancy Jackson (Bob) of Michigan, Nephews Larry Carr (Joyce) of Tacoma, Terry Carr (Linda) of Edgewood, and Ken Motes (Cheryl) of Florida.
Funeral Service will be held 2pm Thursday, August 3 in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View, followed by a reception in the Willow Room. Chellis will be laid to rest at Mountain View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Humane Society for Tacoma, or any Animal rescue of your choice.
