Charlotte Anne (Polly) Plummer Medlock

Mrs. Charlotte (Polly) Medlock passed peacefully surrounded by family on February 27, 2024. Polly was a lifelong resident of Tacoma and an advocate for Pierce County Veterans. Born in Seattle to Donald I. Sr. and Helen (Atkinson) Plummer, March 9, 1925. Polly attended Tacoma Schools, graduated Stadium High School (1943), Attended College of Puget Sound (UPS), University of Oregon, Alpha Phi Sorority. Attended First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma. For years Polly was an active member of Mary Ball Chapter DAR, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Huguenot Society, DV, LGAR, US Daughters of 1812, Tacoma Historical Writers, American Legion Auxiliary Northwest, Eight ’n Forty, AX POW and on the Board of the Tacoma Historical Society. Polly was the THS 2003 Murray Morgan Award recipient. She was responsible for the WWII Memorial Monument, Korean War Monument and Vietnam War Monument in Tacoma’s War Memorial Park.
In 2012 she was honored for her work protecting the World War I Memorial Oak trees that line Old Hwy 99. Signage for the “Boulevard of Remembrance “ adorns Interstate 5 from that work. In 2016 she was named to Stadium High School Alumni Hall of Fame for her work advocating and highlighting the accomplishments of Pierce County Veterans. Her greatest joy came from researching her family history and helping others with theirs.
Survivors include, daughter Janice Anne Spiger (Dr. Michael), sons Robert D. (Rena), Gary S. (Nancy), Ronald W. (Milenka), Brian S. (Bonnie), Murray T. (Penny) Medlock, 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband of 72 years Robert Leonard Medlock, brothers D.I. Plummer Jr., W.G. Plummer and daughter-in-law Kimberlee Jo. Services will be held at Mountain View Park, Garden Chapel on Saturday March 9, 2024 at 1:00pm with Celebration of Life gathering immediately following at the Totem Yacht Club, 5045 North Highland, Ruston.
