Charles Jones' Obituary
Charles Jones, born on May 19th, 1922, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2010, surrounded by family, at Camelot Court AFH. Dad was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Grandison and Lula Swanson Jones. The youngest of eight children, he developed an early musical talent. He entered the Army in 1943, and fought in France and Germany during World War II. He met our mother Josefine while stationed in Germany. After returning to the States, he was sent to serve in the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged in 1963, he was employed by the Dept. of Social and Health Services at Western State Hospital. He continued his education, receiving an AA degree and completing LPN school. He retired from Western State in 1983. Dad enjoyed traveling. He and our mother Josefine took several trips to Europe and Hawaii. They loved taking the grandchildren camping and vacationing in Canada and the Caribbean. Dad was an avid gardener with several ribbons from the Puyallup Fair for his vegetables. He would donate vegetables to neighbors and food banks. Dad was active in his VFW post, and served several years as Post Commander. He also volunteered at the VA. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by our mother, Josefine Huber Jones, in December 2003. He is survived by his daughter Jutta (James) Colvin of Lakewood, sons Charles Jones Jr. (Jerii) of Spanaway, and Harry Jones (Kara)Eof Vashon Island, grandsons Lamont Bush, Christopher Bush and Peter Jones, granddaughters Maria Jones, Jennifer Jones, Elizabeth Morris, Christina Newton, and Bethany (Donnell) House, 12 great-grandchildren, and sister Opal Childs of Oklahoma.
We would like to thank Camelot Court AFH and Hospice for the wonderful care of our father - their help and support will not be forgotten.
Services will be held in the Mountain View Valley Chapel on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at 1pm. Viewing Dec. 2, 2010, 1-9pm.
