Charles Headd's Obituary
Rev. Dr. Charles E. Headd
Charles E Headd was born September 24, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to Golden and Emma Headd. Charles entered his military career with the Air Force and proudly served for 23 years; he also worked for the Pierce Transit and retired as a motor coach/bus operator.
After serving his country, Charles reaffirmed his faith in Christ and began his theological studies. Charles studied the gospel diligently and was most proud of receiving his doctorate degree. Charles ministered to others, taught bible classes and was a representative of the prison ministry at Monroe Correctional Facility, McNeil Island, as well as the Pierce County Jail House, while affiliated with St. John Baptist Church. He later became the Associated Pastor of Damascus Unity Baptist Church where he proudly served. Charles was an admirable soldier for Christ until his health declined.
Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria. They shared love, worship, and a love of travel and he often referred to her as his “Queen”. Charles also enjoyed his daily bible study, reading, movies, television, computers, and politics, as well as frequent family get togethers and sports talk with Lester Keeys his "honorary" son-in-law. Finally, Charles enjoyed bowling, music, speaking foreign languages, and helping others in need.
Charles was also preceded by his parents, Golden and Emma, as well as brothers and sisters Johnnie, Bessie, Jeannette, and Walter. He is survived by brothers and sisters Benjamin Headd, Susie Wilson, and Emma Bolden all of Gary, Indiana, Alonzo Headd of Portage, IN, and Rose Edwards of Milwaukee, WI.
He is also survived by step children Marva Scott, Joshua Scott, Jacqueline Keeys, Karen Salter, Maurice Hill, Chelan Henley, Darlene Hill, and Step Grandchildren Andre Hill and DavidScott, as well as his closest friends, Mr. George and Tracy Sanders.
