Charles Hammond McDonald Jr.1932-2007Pete passed away at his Lakewood home on Oct 23 with his family at his side. Pete was raised on Bainbridge Island and lived in Seattle prior to settling in Lakewood. Pete graduated from Garfield High School in 1950, continued on to the University of Washington and pledged Phi Delta Theta. In 1955 Pete was called to duty and served in the Korean War.Pete joined the family business upon returning from Korea and served as Savage Wholesale Building Materials president and "Captain of Industry." Pete was a thoughtful, fair and decent man with a strong belief in family and a great many friends.When Pete wasn't working, he enjoyed sailing, fishing and golfing. He was a member and past president of the Tacoma Country & Golf Club and the Seniors Northwest Golf Association. Pete also served as past trustee of Bellarmine.Pete is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Tunie; his 3 sons, Peter, Charles (Kim), and Andrew (Kay); his 4 grandchildren: Charles, Kate, Abby, and Jane; and his brother Bruce.Funeral services will be held at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Lakewood at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 29.
