Charles E. Hurd's Obituary
Charles E. Hurd was born October 11, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was laid to rest July 3, 2007. He attended Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He went on to join the Army and retire after serving 20 years. He served two tours in Vietnam. He then worked 20 years for Civil Service working in the MWR field. He served one tour in Kuwait Desert Storm and one tour the Balklands, where he worked as troop support. He leaves to celebrate his life: his mother Mamie Hurd of Memphis, Tennessee; two brothers, Thurman Hurd of Detroit, Michigan and Albert Hurd of Memphis, Tennessee; one sister, Jane Wortham of Memphis, Tennessee; two sons, Peter Hurd and family and Stephan "Shamell" Hurd and family; two uncles, David West of San Francisco, California and Willie West of Memphis, Tennessee; two nieces, Paula Hatton and Twyla Hurd; close aunt-in-law Elizabeth Hurd, and a host of family and friends.
