Charles Anderson's Obituary
Born August 15th, 1925 in Wisdom Montana. Passed away September 27th, 2003. He will be greatly missed by his sons, Stephen, Tim, and Robert; daughter-in-law, Barbara; his three grandchildren, Trevor, Charlotte and Alexander; and step-grandchildren, Kristy and Robert Renfro. One of four children raised by Mary Jane Anderson-VanHountin and Edward VanHountin. He is survived by his brother, Frank Anderson and family of Prosser WA; his sister, Marion Ponton and family of Tacoma WA; and sister-in-law, Liz Anderson of Renton, wife of CharlesÂ' brother the late Robert J. Anderson. He served in the Navy in WWII and later became an active member of the Ray C. Roberts VFW Post # 969. He held all offices at the Post level and was Post Commander 1957-1958. He was 3rd District Commander from 1976-1977. He held numerous offices at the state level such as Assistant Inspector General in 1984, Youth Activities Chairman, State Safety Chairman and Americanism Chairman. He was on the Bylaws Committee and the Resolutions Committee among countless others. He also held numerous positions on the national level including Special Aide-De-Camp for the National Commander of the VFW Eric Sandstrom in 1978-1979. He was a lifetime member of both the VFW and the Elks Club in Tacoma. He was preceded in death by his wife Janet in February 2000 that left an empty place by his side and in his heart. Now by the grace of God they are together again. Funeral services to celebrate CharlesÂ' life will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, October 2, 2003 at the Mt. View Garden Chapel. Interment will take place at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent at 12:30pm.
