Charlene Ann Haneline's Obituary
Charlene Ann Haneline, 76, of Puyallup, WA, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at St. Josephs Hospital, Tacoma, WA. She was born on January 18, 1945, in Tacoma, to Charlie and Emma (Kercher) Hunt. Charlene graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963. She then married and started nursing school. Soon after, she started a family and put her career aspirations on hold.
Charlene had an eye disease in which her sight began to deteriorate in adulthood. While daily tasks became more challenging, she never complained, and always persevered. She led a simple life and found joy in the little things. While she could, she enjoyed gardening, playing games, crocheting, homemaking, bowling, and cooking. She was an amazing cook, and all of her family loved her famous sauerkraut buns.
Charlene’s companion and best friend of 27 years, Spud Hansen, preceded her in death in February, 2021. They had a wonderful life together and enjoyed traveling, going to Cougar games, bowling, and spending time with friends.
Charlene is survived by her daughters, Lana Johnson (Dan), and Bobbi Wetherbee (Rod); 7 grandchilden, Bailey (Brooke), Kylai, Presli (Steven), Zoe, Gracie, Kaeli (Michael), and DJ (Morgan); great-grandson, Gray; and brother, Don Mantz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Emma, her companion, Spud Hansen; brothers Dick Hunt and Ralph Mantz; and sister Doris O’Donnell.
Charlene was loved by all who knew her. She was a loving, caring, strong woman of great integrity. Her greatest joy was her family, and she so adored her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, at 2:00pm in the Valley Chapel at Mountain View Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA. A viewing will be held on Monday, September 27, from 11-4. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness at donate.fightingblindness.org.
