Chan "Steve" Shin's Obituary
Chan Soo “Steve” Shin was born to Kun Ho and Shin Cha Shin on November 21, 1973 in Chung Ju, South Korea. In 1981, Steve moved to Chicago, Illinois with his family, and they eventually settled in Lakewood, Washington in 1987. Steve graduated from Clover Park High School in 1992, and he prospered in his subsequent sales career. Steve married his wife Evelyn/Sandy on November 10, 2002. He was passionate, funny, creative, and talented. Steve loved music and was a gifted guitar player. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles, as well as video and computer games. He especially loved his family, and his dog MungMung.
Steve passed away after a long illness on January 26, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sandy Shin, his step-children Virginia Irons and Ulysses Rettberg, his parents Kun Ho and Shin Cha Shin, his brother Hyo Soo “James” Shin, and his nephew Elijah/JaeHee Shin. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins in both the United States and South Korea.
Steve’s smile, his humor, and his presence will be missed, but his family finds comfort in knowing that he is no longer ill or in pain, that he is in the arms of Jesus, and that they will see him again in Heaven one day.
