I met Cathy in 1979, freshman year in high school, and we quickly became good friends. We had lots of fun driving around in her little VW bug after school, and some great times while on the high school drill team together. Some highlights from the summer we went to drill camp in Idaho include pretending to be Sandy Duncan in a Wheat Thins commercial running through a wheat field in Eastern WA; seeing how fast we could go on those long, Eastern WA straightaways in our moms' cars (Cath in her mom's wood-paneled station wagon, me in my mom's Buick Skylark); and baby powder fights in our dorm room. Cathy loved to laugh and have a good time, and was a very special, kind woman. Earth lost a gem, but Heaven gained an angel. Rest in peace, dear friend. 💕
