CATHERINE LIPERA
Catherine Mary Lipera, age 86, passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on November 26 in Richland, WA. Catherine was born and raised on April 25, 1925 in Polson, MT. After high school, she moved to Spokane to fulfill her goal of becoming a nurse. She attended Whitworth College and Deaconess School of Nursing, later earning a bachelor's degree from Central Washington University. After completing her nursing education she moved to Tacoma and married Frank Lipera on June 4, 1948. Tacoma became home for over 50 years, then Richland for the last four years when she and Frank moved to be near their daughter and family. For approximately 20 years Catherine taught the certified nursing assistant course at Clover Park Technical College in Tacoma. She loved teaching and watching her students grow to fulfill their dreams in nursing. Catherine enjoyed reading, trips to Hawaii, friends, and especially her family and grandson David. Survivors include husband Frank Lipera, son Roger Lipera and wife Anita Pomerantz, Nancy Richmond and husband William, along with grandson David Richmond. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2011 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel, Lakewood, WA, with burial to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice at Tri-cities Chaplaincy. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
