Carolyn Alice Gordon's Obituary
Carolyn Alice Gordon was born July 10, 1952. She grew up on Anderson Island with her three siblings. Her father worked on McNeil Island. She went to elementary school on Anderson Island and then graduated from Steilacoom High School.
After high school Carolyn moved to Ontario, Oregon in 1978 and began working at Evelyn’s Fabrics that next year sewing wedding dresses. She then began working at TVCC in 1980 teaching photography classes. Carolyn loved photography so much so that she even was part of a photography show in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Carolyn had two daughters, Chelsea in 1984 and Kaolin in 1989.
She began her elementary teaching career at Cairo Elementary school in Ontario, Oregon after receiving her Education degree from Eastern Oregon State College in 1989 when her children were young. She taught at Cairo Elementary until she moved to Washington in 1993.
Despite living in Oregon for so long she bought her cabin on Anderson Island in 1987 which has been an endless place of family memories over the years. She loved spending time on the island and sharing her place with others.
In 1993 Carolyn moved to Washington and began teaching at Centennial Elementary. Thus began her teaching with the Bethel School District until she retired in 2019. Besides Centennial, Carolyn also taught at Pioneer Valley Elementary beginning in 2005.
Carolyn passed away on August 23, 2021. She was surrounded by friends and family as her time came to a close.
Carolyn is survived by her two daughter, two son-in-laws, and six grandsons.
Services for Carolyn will be held on September 13, 2021 at 5:30 pm at the Environmental Services Building in University Place.
