Carolyn C. Cobble's Obituary
Carolyn was born in Newburg, AR and went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2005, the exact same date her husband passed away twenty-two years ago. When she was 13, the family moved from AK to Hope, NM where she lived until graduation from high school. After graduation she moved to El Paso, TX. While in El Paso she met and married the love of her life, Paul Cobble. During their 50 years of marriage they lived in TX, NM, OR, WA and Berlin, Germany, settling in Tacoma in 1956.She was a devout Christian, belonging to the Church of Christ her entire life. When living in Germany in 1949 Â- 1951 we would take the U Bahn and S Bahn to church on Sundays to attend services even though we could not understand the language. She has attended the Lakeview Church of Christ in Tacoma since itÂ's beginning, being the oldest member of the congregation. She taught Sunday school for over 25 years, in many cases teaching more than one generation. Carolyn was indeed an inspiration to all who knew her, both young and old.CarolynÂ's vocation was sending greeting cards. If she knew you, you most certainly would have received a birthday, anniversary, get well or just thinking of you card at some time in your life.At the age of 95, she moved from her home of 47 years into KingÂ's Manor Assisted Living Facility in Tacoma, where she lived until her passing. Our sincerest thanks goes to the staff and caregivers at KingÂ's Manor. The caregivers could not have been more loving or caring, and Carolyn certainly loved them in return. Our gratitude is extended to Beverly, the nurse, Lee, the administrator and all the individuals offering prayers for Carolyn. In addition to parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by husband Paul, son Jim Cobble, granddaughter Darlene Cobble, and great-granddaughter Carrianna Massey. Survivors left to cherish her memory are daughter Frances Â"FranÂ" Tracy (Phil), grandchildren Jim, Jerry, David, and Bob Massey, Mitzi Peffer, Jami Wilson (Kevin), Avril Donaldson (Paul), Tom and Paul Cobble, 21 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Lynn Cobble, brother- and sister-in-law Wade and Jean Gilliam, in addition to many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. The family wishes to express its appreciation to Franciscan Hospice of Tacoma, with a very special thank you to Julie and Edith. We will miss her terribly, but know her suffering is now over and she is at peace in the arms of the Lord.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Franciscan Hospice of Tacoma, or Lakeview Church of Christ, 1709 S. 112th St., Tacoma, WA 98444.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Lakeview Church of Christ, 1709 112th St in Tacoma.
