CAROLYN M. BENSON
Carolyn M. Benson, 74, of Lacey passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 30, 2014. Born July 6, 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa, Carolyn was a retired teacher who worked for the North Thurston School District for 30 years. Carolyn is survived by her two sisters, Barbara and Linda, her husband Hank, her children, Mark and Amy, and seven grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Vera Fletcher. Carolyn graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in 1958 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University in 1962. Carolyn worked as an accountant for Knightvale and Gregory before beginning her teaching career at North Thurston High School, where she taught from 1968 to 1998. After retiring from teaching, she worked for ten years at the Capital Mall Gymboree. Dedicated to her family and career, Carolyn loved reading, Christmas shopping, sweets, and her grandchildren. A memorial will be held at St. Martin’s Pavilion in Lacey, Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
