Carole Ann Day's Obituary
Carole Ann Day passed away at home on June 9th, 2026, in Lakewood, WA. Carole’s life of 64 years was lived with grace, beauty, strength and courage. She was born in Prince George’s County in Maryland and grew up as a military “brat” as her father was moved from assignment to assignment. And while she lived both a Texas life and a Washington life, it was Washington where her heart was. Carole graduated in 1979 from Clover Park High School. She was a very hard worker and well respected wherever she went. She held positions with various companies, among them, LPL Technical Services and Butler Service Group in WA, and Home Depot and HEB in TX. Her faith was deep, and along with an incredible sense of humor, infectious laugh, unwavering optimism, and a huge heart, it was these traits that helped her through many difficult times in her life. She loved people, charity work, music, dancing, photography, camping, and road trips. Possessions were not important to Carole: family, friends, and animals were what brought joy to her life. She always placed their feelings and needs before her own. Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Dennie and Delores Day, her brother Dennie Day, and her sister Tammy Whitney. She is survived by her son Chad Vancleave and wife Karlene, her grandchildren: Lillyanne, Elijah, Elora, Luke, and Daniel, brother-in-law Bruce Whitney, nieces Bobbi Lee Berry and Baylee Whitney, Tim Harm and his wife Kim, and her ex-husband Kurt Vancleave and his wife Debbie, and Jeff Lundgaard. Carole loved and was an important part of the Harm family who welcomed her and Chad upon our move to Texas with open arms. There will be a hole in the hearts of those who knew her well and may her memory be a blessing to all. A celebration of her life will be held on July 16th from 5-7 PM at Mountainview Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA. In accordance with Carole’s last wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes spread privately. Carole loved the beauty of flowers however, we request that contributions in her memory be made to Sundance Circle Hippotherapy Foundation in Sumner, WA by going to https://www.sundancehippotherapy.com.
