Carol M. Schauer's Obituary
Carol (Engleman) Schauer passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2015. In 2007, she moved to Longview, WA to be closer to her daughter Jocelyn’s watchful care in the last years of her life. Carol was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on February 1, 1929 to Herbert and Glenys Engleman. She received her teaching certificate from Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, SD and taught second grade for two years. Carol married LeRoy Schauer and together they shepherded 5 churches, starting 3 of these churches in Mott, ND; Columbus, NE, and Tacoma, WA. Carol is remembered for her strong faith in the Lord, fervent praying, teaching of God’s Word, hospitality, cooking delicious meals, love for music, and skillful sewing.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, older sister Laurel Bresnahan, and her husband of 43 years. She is survived by her children: Michaelle (Terry) Buford, Jocelyn Schauer, Carlene (Dan) McNabb, Robert Bresnahan Schauer, and John (Kim) Schauer. Her grandchildren: Andrew Buford, Tristan McNabb, Rebecca Dutta, Tasch McNabb, Rachel Williams, Matthew Schauer, Michael Schauer, Kader Schauer, Kiegen Schauer, Reiner Schauer, Gabriel Schauer, and Ella Schauer. Her great-grandchildren: Cheyne and Lily McNabb; and her two sisters: Betty Weintz and Barbara Erb.
Carol appreciated the compassionate care of the staff at Rai Angels Adult Family Home and the medical advice and encouragement of her nephew Dr. James Bresnahan.
A graveside service will be held April 20, 2015 at the Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Lakewood, WA at 1:30pm; followed by a reception at Olympic View Baptist Church in University Place. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Community Church in Longview, WA sometime in June. Donations in Carol’s honor may be made to the North American Baptist Conference; 1219 Pleasant Grove Bvld; Roseville, CA 95678 (church multiplication fund #11200737).
