Carol Marie Manuel's Obituary
Carol Marie (Larson) Manuel
A life-long resident of Tacoma, Carol was born on June 2, 1945 to Victor and Hazel (Elseth) Larson. She joined brother Lynn and sister Sharon as the youngest child.
Carol attended Madison, Edison and Arlington Elementary Schools, Grey Jr. High, Wilson High School, graduating from the then -Å"new- Mt. Tahoma High School in 1963.
While at Mt. Tahoma, she loved singing in the choir and enjoyed being a part of the newly formed marching group that performed at ball games.
In 1964 she met and married her husband Dan Manuel at Hope Lutheran Church where she was a member. Michael Anthony (1967) and Jana Marie (1969), her son and daughter, completed their family. She worked for the Boeing Co. for 20 years where her health problems started. Her lungs were damaged from the fumes that arose from the vats of cleaning fluid she used everyday to clean parts and tools. This led to the pulmonary fibrosis that finally took her life.
Carol was an animal lover, raising and caring for numerous dogs and cats. She even had a soft heart for the birds and squirrels, putting food out on a regular basis. They were her -Å"best friends.- Because of this love, we are asking, in lieu of flower , donations be sent to the Tacoma Humane Society at 2608 Center St. Tacoma, 98409 in her memory.
In recent years she was the primary care-giver to her grandson, Zackary. His health and welfare were her main concern even as she struggled with her own health. Her granddaughter Lily was also a spark in her life.
Before her health failed, she was able to do some traveling: weddings in No. Carolina and Connecticut, graduation of Michael from Yale, a Mexican cruise and trips to California to visit with Michael's family.
Your family will miss you Little Sis; our Lord is now your care-giver. Be at Peace.
