Carol and I became best friends when we lived in Baumholder, Germany in 1970 and were in 7th grade. My family returned to the states and we made our home in El Paso Texas and soon after Carols family returned and went home to Washington. We lost touch with each other thru this process until I found her 42 years later in 2012 on Facebook. Carol hadn't changed at all in all those years and I knew it was her. I flew up to Washington in the summer of 2013 and spent a week with her. It was like we had never been apart for those 42 years and we had a blast! She showed me all around her home state and this summer she was going to come to Texas and see mine. Sadly that was not meant to be but I am so very blessed to have been able to reconnect with Carol before her passing. We always said we were besties and now she's my Guardian Angel in heaven. I was blessed to know Carol from the time that I was twelve years old. I don't think I ever saw her without a beautiful smile on her face. She was gracious and kind and had a beautiful spirit. I wish I had taken the time to tell her how much she meant to me through the years. She still lived near my mom, and would stop by to say hi to her and chat. What a blessing! I am sorry that Carol is gone, but I know that Heaven must be rejoicing at her arrival. I can only strive to honor Carol's memory by trying to be more like her: happy, content, loving and kind. What an impact she had on this world. So many lives she brightened with her smile and loving presence.

Dear Carol,
I still can not believe what happened to you.. I really miss you.
You are the best host mom and friend to me. When I think of you, I only can remember the great memories and your smile. When I arrived the U.S.A., indeed I had a lot of fears and worries to my new life in the state, but your smile always made me smile and your kindness always made me comfort. I will never forget you and our great memories. You are the most lovely, kind, cheerful and wonderful person. I really glad I met you and have known you. The best thing happened in my college life in the U.S, is that I met you, it really was. I can not attend the ceremony, but my heart is always with you. You are a very special person, we will all miss you. May your soul rest in peace.
