Carol Anne Brown's Obituary
Carol A, Brown, 73 a resident of Puyallup, Washington took her last breath on this earth after a long battle with cancer, and her first breath as a guardian angel in the arms of her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Franciscan Hospice House - University Place, Washington. She was born on May 1, 1943 in The Dalles, Oregon. Her parents, Virginia Davis and Gustave Hallin moved to Huntington, Oregon when Carol was a small child. While in Huntington her parents divorced and her mother re-married Earnest J. Standard. Ernie was the primary father figure in her life, she always looked at him as her father and mentor. Carol was one of three children; Elnora Arnold (deceased) and Patty Harry.
Carol graduated from high school in Huntington, Oregon in 1960. After graduating high school, Carol attended Eastern Oregon University. Carol married her first husband, Lonney Spath on July 2, 1962. Soon after, they made their home in Caldwell, Idaho. With the marriage, Carol became a stepmom to three children, Jerry Spath, Larry Spath and Richard Spath. The following year, Carol’s only biological son Randy Spath was born. The couple divorced in 1972.
Carol worked a few different jobs and then finally found her calling as a sheriff’s detective in Ada County Idaho. Carol started working for the sheriff’s department on May 3, 1973 and retired September 30, 1997 at the age of 55. Carol went to FBI school for handwriting identification and did all of the forgery investigations and most of the fraud investigations. Carol also did warrants and extraditions during her 24 years with the sheriff’s department
After retiring from the sheriff’s department, Carol moved to Puyallup, Washington to be with the love of her life Robert (Bob) Brown. Carol and Bob were married in 2001. Bob passed away a few months later after fighting a battle with cancer
Carol was always welcoming and brought a lot of laughter to many people with her sense of humor and sassiness. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten by everyone that knew her.
Carol loved to travel and take cruises giving her the opportunity to see different parts of the world. She was very adventurous, at the age of 68 she decided to go parasailing in St. Thomas while on a cruise. Carol’s other passion was to go to the casinos with her friends and family. She never won large jackpots but always seemed to come out on the winning side. Carol also had a strong love for cats, having one at most times in her adult life
She loved spending time with her family. Her family was very important to her. She loved family gatherings in which she could see her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol is survived by children, Randy Spath, Crystal Spath (Spouse), of Rochester, Washington; Stepson Richard Spath, Debra Spath (Spouse), of Nampa, Idaho; Stepson Larry Spath, Michele Spath (Spouse), of Caldwell, Idaho and Stepson Jerry Spath, of Nampa, Idaho.
Carol is also survived by her Grandchildren: Josh Ramsey, Zach Ramsey, Kyler Haber, Beau Spath, Tanner Spath, Trey Spath, Whitney Scott and Cody Spath and three great-grandchildren.
Carol will be placed alongside her husband, Robert Brown at the Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, Washington.
Her family would like offer their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Partner Oncology and Franciscan Hospice House.
At Carol’s request no services will be held. However, a celebration of life will be held at a later time.
