Carol Ann Read's Obituary
Carol Ann Read, 63, passed away due to complications from a stroke in the early morning hours of Sept. 21, 2005. She was the beloved wife of Bob Read of Silcox Island on American Lake. Carol was born in Chehalis and received her education in that town. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Bob Read, after graduation on June 25, 1960. All three of their children were born in Chehalis and they moved to Tacoma in 1968. Because Carol wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, she opened her own dog-grooming parlor behind their Lakewood house, working while the children were in school. From 1980 to 1990, she picked up film throughout the Tacoma and Peninsula areas for Qualex, a company in Chehalis. Bob and Carol built their dream home on beautiful Silcox Island in 1994. They spent time racing runabouts throughout the Pacific Northwest and also enjoyed snowmobiling in the Cascade Mountains. Carol loved, more than anything, to entertain friends and family on the Island. Carol¹s memory will be dearly cherished by her husband of 45 years, Bob; son Bob Read Jr. of Tacoma; daughter Teresa Rodrick and Teresa¹s husband Glenn of Milton; daughter Kelly Lew and Kelly¹s husband Bob of Arlington; and precious grandchildren Ashley, Dustin Bryse, Jesse, James and Christine. Carol is also survived by two sisters: Martha Young and Dolly Jones of Centralia. She is predeceased by her parents Margaret and Henry Baxter. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the family home on Silcox Island. Dinner follows at 4 p.m. For those attending the service, please park at Bill¹s Boathouse in Tillicum or at American Lake North Park. Pontoon boats will pick up guests starting at noon. For directions to these locations, call (253) 581-2657. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Good Samaritan Hospital¹s Rehabilitation Unit, P.O. Box 1247, Puyallup, WA 98371-0192. Carol, we will miss your sweet, quiet ways, your sense of humor and the courage that you showed facing your illness and recovery. You will not be forgotten.
