Carmen M. Cintron's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Carmen M. Cintron January 29, 1955 – December 13, 2021 “Produced in Puerto Rico. Directed in New York.”
With deep love and profound respect, we remember and celebrate the remarkable life of Carmen M. Cintron, who passed away on December 13, 2021, at the age of 66 years young.
Carmen was born on January 29, 1955, in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, to Antonio Cintron and Felicita Sanchez-Reyes. At just one year old, she and her beloved mother moved to New York City, where Carmen would go on to grow up in the heart of Spanish Harlem. There, she began a life defined by strength, service, and unwavering love for her family.
A brilliant student who graduated with honors, Carmen answered a higher calling and enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she not only served with distinction but also competed athletically, playing tennis and traveling the world. Her service took her across Europe—Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy—and even to the continent of Africa, leaving her with a lifetime of memories and an even greater appreciation for the richness of different cultures.
Throughout the 1980s, Carmen made her home in various parts of the country, including D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Arizona, Texas, and Washinton. In the 1990s, her journey led her back to Germany, where she lovingly helped her sister raise her nephew and niece, Tony & Angel. Eventually, she returned to the U.S., settling in Washington with her sister Victoria. There, she once again embodied her role as the family’s heart—relocating her mother and brother Ricardo to be closer and ensuring the family remained united.
Carmen’s titles were many: devoted daughter, loving granddaughter, phenomenal sister, coolest auntie, loyal friend, and revered matriarch. She was a true Nuyorican—tough, witty, nurturing, and bold. Her home was her sanctuary, and her people, her greatest priority. She lived with integrity, stood firm in her values, and served as a shining example to everyone blessed to know her.
Carmen had a passion for life. She was a social butterfly who loved music, reading, traveling, attending community events, and staying connected to her Puerto Rican roots. Her heartbeat for her family, and her presence had a way of making everyone feel safe, valued, and loved.
She is survived by her soul mate & loving sister, Victoria Marques; her devoted brother, Ricardo Reyes; and her cherished nephew and niece Tony and Angel. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit, laughter, sense of humor, strength, and fierce love will live on forever in our hearts.
Your legacy of love, resilience, and joy lives on in all of us. You will never be forgotten.
Que Dios te me Bendiga, y tenga en la Gloria,
Nuestra Querida Reina y Muneca de Crystal
