Carlos Alexander Lima's Obituary
“The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. -Psalms 34:18”
Carlos Lima was more than a son, brother, father, and friend , he was the heartbeat of our family. Born to Christine Herrera and the late Pedro Lima Sr., Carlos was a beloved brother to Pedro Jr., Elizabeth, Reina, Chari, Royce, Asandra, and Divine, and above all, a devoted father to his pride and joy, Jackson Lima.
Carlos had a difficult journey through life, carrying pain most people never saw. After finding our father’s body just days after his passing, something inside Carlos changed forever. That moment broke a part of him that never truly healed. He battled depression and turned to drugs as a way to cope with the pain he didn’t know how to express. During his 20s, he spent years in prison, separated from his family and missing precious time watching his son grow up. When he came home, the world felt different ,unfamiliar, and though he tried his best to adjust, the weight of his trauma followed him everywhere he went.
Depression is a real disease, one that doesn’t always show on the outside. Carlos fought it the best way he knew how, but when the cries for help go unheard or misunderstood, the darkness can become too heavy to carry alone. His mind became a battlefield, and even though he fought bravely, in the end, the pain won the fight his heart had been fighting all along.
But that pain does not define him. Carlos was more than his struggles , he was laughter, loyalty, love, and light. He made people laugh when they wanted to cry. He protected his family fiercely and loved with all he had, even when he felt empty himself. His heart was huge, his hugs were real, and his presence was unforgettable.
Carlos will forever be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and the deep love he carried for his son, Jackson. Though his story is one of pain, it’s also one of courage , because despite it all, he kept fighting. He taught us the importance of listening, of checking on those who smile through their pain, and of loving people exactly where they are.
Carlos, your battle is over, but your story lives on. You are finally free from the pain that weighed you down, reunited with our father in peace and light. We will carry your memory, your laughter, and your love with us for the rest of our lives. You will always be our brother, our son, our father, our family , forever loved and never forgotten.
