Carl Douglas Swanson's Obituary
Carl Douglas Swanson has passed. A Tacoma native, Carl always said that the best of times were the summers of his youth spent at the home of his grandparents Fred and Evelyn Naslund, on five acres near Midland, with his grandfather’s wonderful sister Freda, just two doors down. He graduated from West. Wash. Univ. with a B.A. in Political Science and had served on the WWU Alumni Assoc. Board of Directors. Carl had worked for the City of Seattle as a Personnel Analyst. He belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Jesuit parish in Seattle. Carl loved Big Sur, the Bay Area, Maui, Provincetown, Cape Cod, Bellingham and autumn in New England. And he tried never to miss the Puyallup Fair. Carl’s credo is elucidated in his favorite hymns Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Fred and Evelyn (Campbell) Naslund, William Swanson and Ocie (Van Tine) Swanson; parents Stanley and Marjorie Swanson, and cousins Bill Falk, Aimee Naslund Bang and Patrick Christey. Survivors include cousins Kathy Brunetto, Coree Naslund, Keith Imeson, Neal Imeson, Linda Blakley and Mary Bennett; uncle Bill Naslund; beloved niece Claire Marx, step-niece Valerie Rose, and great nephew Darren Marx. And by a brother, Eric Swanson. And many others. In accordance with his wishes, he is interred next to Fred and Evelyn.
