Carl O. Haringer's Obituary
Carl Otto Haringer was born to Ottmar and Anna Haringer in Wapato,
Washington, on July 24, 1924, and went to be with his Lord on
September 18, 2018. Carl was baptized in the Catholic church as an
infant. He was confirmed on Palm Sunday 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church
in Tacoma, Washington.
Carl attended school in Wapato, Washington and graduated from high
school in 1943. He then joined the Army. Carl served in World War II
in Germany, France, and Italy, and was discharged in 1946.
Upon returning to the States, Carl attended the University of Puget
Sound in Tacoma, Washington. He then went to work at Fort Lewis as a
civil service employee, retiring in 1983 with 36 years of service as
the Distribution Facilities Manager. Carl went on to work for a couple
of small grocery stores, ending up working for Ace Hardware in Gig
Harbor for 13 years. Carl truly loved working with the public and
enjoyed the people he worked with all those years.
In his younger years, Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing. In later
years, he loved his home, vegetable garden, and his yard. Carl also
loved to read, watch sports on television, and attended the high
school basketball tournaments held at the Tacoma Dome.
Carl was an active member of his church and was a member of the
American Legion Post 138 since 1949. He was a devoted husband, father,
grandfather, and great-grandfather. Everyone loved Carl, as he was
very loving and caring, never saying a harsh word against anyone. He
had a strong and firm faith and love in God.
Carl married Jean Holien on October 11, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church
in Tacoma, Washington. Their marriage of almost 60 years was blessed
with two children, Deborah Ann Good (Morris) and Brian David Haringer.
Carl is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren Matthew Moreno
(Jaimie) and Andrew Moreno (Angelica) and his great grandchildren
Isabella, Addysen, Ruby, Leo, Carson, Briella, Emerson, and two
nephews and their families
