Carl Richard Fisk's Obituary
On February 7, 2014, Carl Richard Fisk lost his battle with cancer, passing peacefully in his sleep in Lakewood. He was 93.
Carl was born in Newark, Ohio, to Rupert and Amanda Fisk on May 22, 1920. In May 1942, Carl enlisted in the Army and was among those who landed on the Normandy beaches and fought across France. After a brief time of civilian life, he reenlisted in 1948. In November 1949, he met and married Evelyn, and they raised a family within the military community.
After assignments throughout the country and in Korea and Germany, he was reassigned to Fort Lewis in 1962, retiring in 1964. He later worked for the Washington State Liquor Control Board, retiring in 1982.
In his prime, Carl was an avid golfer. He enjoyed regular workouts in the gym until he was 90. He never lost his fondness for the swing music of the big band era. He will always be remembered for his keen curiosity. He eagerly embraced new technology, spending hours on his computer and reading on his Kindle. He was an active member of Tacoma Area PC User Group well into his 80s
Carl will be greatly missed by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn, their children Terry (Kathleen) of Puyallup, Carol Dedrick (Rick) of Tacoma, Steven of Seattle, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 3pm in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any Veterans organization.
