Candida J. Zylawski's Obituary
Candida Julia (Rivera) Zylawski was born on July 30, 1934 in New York City. She was the youngest of seven children. Candy was very close with her sisters and brothers. She was raised with very strong family values.
Candy graduated high school and met a young man names Henry Zylawski. Soon, Henry and Candy were married and had two children, Richard and John. The family then lived in Maspeth, New York, the polish section of Queens.
Candy loved making things such as crafts, Christmas ornaments, and flower arrangements. She was such a giving and truthful person, a flamboyant dresser, and always was thinking of other people first, even in all of her illness. My mom loved to shop and always took Richard and I out to eat. We used to take buses to see relatives and to got to doctor's appointments. Mom loved gardening. My mom and dad were always helping people out with food, money, or anything they had. That has been passed down to Richard and I. Mom loved to dance. She would be the first one on the dance floor and the last to leave. Mom was very straight to the point and truthful and if you knew her, that's one thing you'd never forget.
I know we're all going to miss Candy. She was so strong for so very long. I never thought this day would come, but I know we'll see her again. At least no more suffering. She's in heaven looking down at us with all the other great people, Henry Zylawski, Grandpa Lucas Rivera, Uncle Gene, and David Baxter and all the other great people waiting for us.
Thank you for reading this and we'll all be seeing Candy again. Again, we miss her already. Just remember all the great things she has done and how she was.
Candy is survived by her sons John and Richard and her loving granddaughter, Christina Zylawski.
