Camille Horton's Obituary
Camille (Searcy) Horton was born November 28, 1924 in Limestone County, Texas; to the late Charlie Searcy and Cannie Lee McCrimmon. Camille is the third child of eight. She attended Elementary School in Axtell, TX, Camille graduated A.J. Moore High School in Waco, TX where she received outstanding remarks from teachers as being an achiever of excellence in academics, and graduated in 1941.
After graduation, Camille moved to Vallejo, California to live, with her oldest sister. She went to work as an elevator operator for a major department store. She and her late husband Andrew Horton Sr. were married 44 years. Camille was a member of St. Mark’s Community Church, Vallejo, CA where the Reverend Dr. Charles A. Brown is Pastor.
Camille was on the Mother’s Board, a Deaconess and Sunday School Teacher, she loved her Church and its members. She often spoke of them with great admiration. She and Andrew were very involved in American Baptist Convention, they were also active in various civic organizations in the city of Vallejo.
Camille and Andrew moved to Washington in 2007. Upon her husband’s demise, she moved to Heritage Rehabilitation Center where she resided until her death November 3, 2017.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; three brothers; husband Andrew; son Paul Simmons; grandson Damein Daniels; and two great-grandsons Devan Daniels and Baskell Bolton.
Our mother is survived by one sister Billie J. Jones, Colorado Springs, CO; daughters Beverly (Charles) Daniels, Spanaway, WA, Susan (Patrick) Kimpston, Spokane, WA, Lisa Stiles, Moses Lake, WA; Sons Jerome Whitmore, David (Cynthia) Simmons, Seattle, WA, Andrew Horton Jr., Livermore, CA, Mark (Mariana) Simmons, Alexander Heights, Australia, William Horton, Vallejo, CA, Hally Simmons, Chicago, IL and James Simmons, Kentland, IN; forty-one grandchildren; eighty-two great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Camille, will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2017 in the Celebration of Life Center, Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Lakewood. A reception will immediately follow in the Oak Room.
Camille will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington.
