Wilfred shared so many things with our family in the past years and I thank him for that. It is difficult
to let go of good people, however memories last forever. " From joy all thing are born,by joy they are sustained and into joy they again return." May these words bring some small measured of comfort to you at this difficult time. Mardell Hodges Buffington##imported-begin##Mardell Hodges Buffington##imported-end##
I have my 6th grade class picture with him. Your loss is everybody's loss. We all loved him, especially when he read BLACK BEAUTY to our class. May God comfort you.##imported-begin##Frid Tjorstad Nutley##imported-end##
Through Wilfred's strength and encouragement as our leader we, the elementary principals, were able to be effective. He was our rock.

At Mary Lyon Grade School, Mr. Jewell called me Eddie. It was with his help, and the teaching of my father, that I grew to love softball in the 1945-1946 season...and we had a pretty good softball team at Lyon. After college graduation I became a colleague in the the Tacoma School District with Mr. Jewell from 1957-1970. I would see Mr. Jewell occasionally and we would talk of softball at Lyon and educating the youth of the greater Tacoma area. Thank you, Mr. Jewell. May God bless you and continue to be with your wife, Ethel and children.##imported-begin##Ed##imported-end##
Dear Ethel and Girls: My memories of Wilfred are happy ones--the many times we spent visiting in your home, he was always the most gracious host. He would never let me do the dishes; it was his job! He brought joy into our lives and we are all better to have known him. I know your loss is great, but God is even greater. My love goes out to all of you, my dear friends.##imported-begin##Avonne Ruiz##imported-end##
Ethel, sorry to hear of your loss and hope you are doing allright, I enjoyed working with him when he was principal of Franklin School and he was one of the best liked principals of all the years that I was active there because of his communication with the teachers, students and parents . And I can see he lived a full and meaningful life with you and his family, God be with you always, Bettye and family##imported-begin##Bettye Andren##imported-end##
When I was a student at Mary Lyon(1947) and Horace Mann (1952) elementary school Mr. Jewell was our principal. I have fond memories of his smile and kindness as an adult to his students.##imported-begin##Patricia (Booth)Kerns##imported-end##
