Burt W. Carpenter's Obituary
Burt W. Carpenter, age 89, passed away quietly on August 26, 2016. Burt was born on August 20, 1927 in Rock Springs, WY to Charles and Helen Carpenter.
He was a Korean War Veteran, then worked for Pierce County Public Works. After that he moved to Pierce Transit where he worked as a bus driver, dispatcher, and supervisor. He retired after 25 years of service.
He married Marian Nolan on April 12, 1986 in Tacoma, WA. They retired in 1991 and spent the next 20 years traveling in their RV, spending winters in Arizona and summers in Washington. Five years ago, they stopped traveling and settled at Boulevard Park Place, a retirement community in Burien, WA.
Burt was known to many as a kind, loving, genuine, caring and humble man. His smile was loved by many. He loved shuffleboard, bean bag baseball, woodworking, gardening and most of all, his family.
Burt was preceded in his death by his parents, Charles and Helen Carpenter, sister Louise Carpenter, sister Charlene Fitchett, son-in-law Robert Todd, son Walt Nolan, daughter Cindy Shackleford, and son Bill Nolan. Burt is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marian Carpenter, sister Mickey Fitchett, son David Carpenter, son Dennis Carpenter, daughter Deborah Carpenter, daughter Dyana Carpenter Todd, son Mike Nolan, daughter Debbie (Tony) Truss, daughter Becki Nolan, 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
