Bruce Frederick Todd's Obituary
Bruce Frederick Todd Bruce Todd, 88, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Bruce was born at Tacoma General Hospital on February 10, 1926 to Walker and Alida Todd. He grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. He served his country in the US Navy from 1944-1946. While stationed at Tiburon Naval Base, Bruce met the love of his life, Rosella Joyce Garofalo, in San Francisco on July 1, 1944. Bruce said he fell in love with his "Rosa" at first sight. They married August 4, 1946, and started a family shortly thereafter. Bruce worked for the US Postal Service, first sorting mail, then as an Auditor and retiring as Budget Manager of the Tacoma Office in 1981. Bruce was the most kind and gentle man you could ever know. He had the biggest heart, and always wore it on his sleeve. He loved to tell people about how much he adored Rosella, how beautiful she was, and how much he loved his family. Bruce loved sports, and closely followed all local teams. He collected coins, sports cards, stamps, and cars. Bruce had the most amazing memory and could tell you any date, street, sports statistic, or memory with full vivid details. He loved food, especially pie and blackberry milkshakes. He also enjoyed animals, playing poker, taking long walks, and being with his loved ones. Bruce was a Congregationalist, but always felt comfortable attending any church. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara Jacobson. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosella, four sons, Gregory (Nancy), Marc (Sharon), Christopher (Michelle), and Andrew, eight grandchildren, Trisha (Salvador), Aaron (Rowena), Christopher, Alison, Josh, Samantha, Bryan, and Kelly, and his seven great-grandchildren, LilyAnne, Rosalie, Violetta, Anabelle, Zoey, Naudya, and Talen. Bruce fondly referred to his great-granddaughters as "Bruce's Angel's". Also very dear to Bruce was his daughter-in-law Loretta. The family would like to thank his caregiver Catherine, who helped the latter part of his life be more pleasant, and the many friends and staff at Brookdale. Bruce, you are our angel now. We will love and miss you always.
