Bruce Rolland Hirschy
Known to many as "Pop", Bruce was born on November 12, 1925 in Monterey, CA, and passed away in his home in University Place, WA with his loving wife Joyce "Toni" Hirschy by his side. Pop graduated from Mira-Loma Flight Academy in California in 1945, and went on to serve his country as a pilot in the US Air Force He attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and played football. In 1996 he was inducted into the Wesleyan University football Hall of Fame. His gifted tenor voice has been the enjoyment of many over the years as he sang with his church quartet, where they performed for Faith Temple's "Door to Life" television show for many years. He was employed as an electrician and carpenter who could fix anything. Pop leaves behind his wife Joyce "Toni" Hirschy of 58 years. He was the loving father of Kevin Hirschy, daughter Lynne (Dwaine) Hirschy-Bowden. He also leaves behind three grandsons, who were the love of his life, Dennis Johnson, Chris Johnson, and Josh Hirschy. Also his extended family, Sean Bowden and Audra (Curtis) Blowers, Jasmine and Landen. He was preceded in death by his brother Gail Hirschy and Billy Hirschy. He is survived by his brother John (Joan) Hirschy, sister Clairene Trabun, and sister-in-law Bonnie Hirschy. Viewing will be held this Sunday, October 5, from Noon-9pm at Mountain View Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 1pm in the Mountain View Garden Chapel. A reception will follow immediately in the Willow Room at Mountain View. We love and miss you Pop!
