Bruce Douglas Knight's Obituary
TACOMA- Bruce Douglas Knight, 95, a lifelong resident of Tacoma was taken home to be with our Lord Jesus on September 30, 2024, as he was resting from a short struggle with the Covid-19 virus.
A memorial service honoring Bruce’s life will be conducted by Pastor Kenton Lee on October 25 at 11:00am, Life Center Central Campus, 1717 S Union Ave Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Life Center Church and Life Christian Academy; Tacoma, WA. Bruce’s obituary is hosted by Mountain View Funeral Home, online condolences and memories can be shared with the family at that posting.
Bruce was born on April 17, 1929, in Tacoma to Edmond and Rose Strachan Knight. As a teen during WWII, Bruce and his childhood friends intended to enlist in the war effort when reaching 17 years of age, but instead he joined the US Naval Reserve and was deployed to the Korean Conflict serving 2 years as an Engineman (EN). After his service, Bruce worked as an automotive repair mechanic, eventually opening his own auto repair business. Later, Bruce served as an automotive repair instructor at Clover Park Technical College before retiring. Bruce was also a Gideon, an active member at Life Center Assembly of God since 1980, and active in BSA Troop 29 for his son and grandsons.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Vera. He leaves behind three sons, Bruce, Larry, and Douglas, two stepchildren, Betty Grocott Cournoyer and John Grocott. Bruce was preceded in death by all seven of his siblings.
