Brienne Melbye's Obituary
Brienne Else Melbye Our beloved sister, sister-in-law and aunt Brienne Else Melbye, born in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 8, 1933, has passed away in Tacoma, Washington on December 22, 2011. Survivors include brother Arne Madsen and Birgit, sister Birgitte and Sven Ziegler, and nephews and nieces Finn and Michael, Karina and Anne, all of Denmark. Brienne's schooling was in Denmark, and at age 22, as a single woman, she immigrated to Columbus, Georgia. There she met her husband, Army Lieutenant John Melbye, also from Denmark. They traveled the world with the Army, having many exciting adventures and eventually settling in Lakewood, Washington. Brienne worked for Puget Sound Bank and Key Bank for 22 years. She was a member of the Manhattan Dance Club, Eagles, and Oakbrook Golf and Country Club. She enjoyed her time in Mexico and her dance club. Mickey, Lola, Spike, and Daisy were her good pals, and kept her great company over many years. Donations may be made to the Tacoma Humane Society. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel, Lakewood, Washington 253-584-0252. A reception will follow.
