Brian F. Dammeier's Obituary
Brian F. Dammeier passed away peacefully on November 16th, 2013. He was an amazing business and community leader in addition to being a loving family man.
A native Tacoman, he was born on November 25, 1934 to Fuhrman and Anne Dammeier. He was a Stadium Tiger before heading north to become a proud University of Washington Husky, graduating with BA in Business in 1956. He returned to Tacoma, after serving as a naval officer in Hawaii, and joined his father in the family printing business. Under his leadership, the business expanded to become the region’s largest printing company. Even after he retired, he maintained a printing connection, helping former employees start their own printing company.
Brian was strongly committed to his community, devoting countless hours and resources. A long-time Rotarian, he also served on numerous local boards, including the United Way, UW-Tacoma, Tacoma Country & Golf Club, to name a few. His passion for Purple & Gold ran deep and he proudly supported the start up of the UW-Tacoma Campus, as well as the Foster Business School and Husky football. His philanthropic effort ran throughout the community but was especially strong for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
An anchor for his family, Brian was pre-deceased by his wife of 47 years, Janet Andre Dammeier, and his second wife, Ana Emery Dammeier. Three times blessed, he is survived by his wife, Ingrid Owen Dammeier, as well as his sisters Arrol Thieme and Jeanie Johnson. Additionally, he is survived by his three children and their families: Kurt and Leslie Dammeier and their sons, Maxwell, Bennett, and Liam; Bruce and Lauren Dammeier and their sons, Brent (& Molly), Craig, and Colin; and Andrea (Dammeier) and John Ogden and their children, Katharine, Ben, and Charlotte. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home’s Celebration of Life Center on Monday, November 25th at 4PM. A reception will follow at the Tacoma Country & Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation, PO Box 5296, Tacoma, WA 98415-0296, in support of the Tree House Endowment.
