Brett Charles Beal's Obituary
Brett Charles Beal was born October 1st, 1962 at Booth Memorial Children's Hospital in Spokane, WA.
He was lovingly adopted by the Reverend Carl Beal and his wife Lois (Magers) Beal. As a Preacher's Kid, Brett lived all over Washington state, moving every 4-5 years throughout his childhood until putting down roots in the Tacoma area as an adult.
In his formative years Brett was an adorable little guy with an impish grin and a lot of curiosity; always asking questions. He started reading young and enjoyed a wide range of literature, from Shakespeare to fantasy novels.
He learned to play piano at 7 and went on to master music theory, the piano, organ, and cornet. His first job was playing taps for funerals at the Soldiers Home Cemetery in Orting, WA. Brett had a beautiful voice that he shared with others, singing solos in church.
He was active in theater as well, beginning with working the lights, sound, and recording equipment but going on to perform complicated speaking parts. He had a very sharp photographic memory which helped him remember lines for himself and others. He even lived in an apartment in the basement of the Seeley Theater in Pomeroy, WA.
Brett was a true night owl and eventually went to work for Texaco (eventually becoming Jackson's) as a graveyard convenience store clerk. He had an incredible work ethic and enjoyed bantering with customers. As a single man he was always willing to work holidays and weekends so his coworkers could have family time. Brett was an honest and loyal employee.
Working nights also allowed Brett to pursue his greatest love- computers. He started out with a Tandy from Radio Shack. He taught himself how to code and write programs. His apartment was full of various computers, programming and gaming literature, and every video game known to man. He played with others from around the world and built beautiful friendships with other gamers online.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by all of his grandparents and his parents. He leaves behind his sister, Eldonna Beal, his niece Amanda Beal Jackson, and great nephew Erasmus.
Brett passed away from heart failure and was taken home according to His
plan at the young age of 62. He would want all of his friends to know that they are deeply loved, and would tell them "Don't forget to be awesome!"
