Brent Jalmari Peltomaa's Obituary
Brent "Beej" was born in Tacoma, Washington and lived his entire life in Tacoma/Puyallup area. He attended Gov. John Rogers High School and studied at T.C.C.
Consequences of addiction took Brent from us. Brent fought addiction most of his life. In the end, addiction prevailed but his addiction and ultimate outcome does not define him.
To know Brent was to experience a man with a huge sensitive heart who loved and felt emotions deeply; a gentle sensitive soul. He defended his family and friends fiercely and was loyal almost to a fault. His smile was quick, beautiful and ignited a twinkle in his eye seldom seen. If you needed help all you had to do was ask and he would be there with whatever you needed-- his physical strength, a smile and funny stories, a hug to comfort you, a compassionate heart to listen.
Brent suffered deeply for the pain his choices inflicted on family and friends but he always took ownership of those consequences with grace and understanding. Even at the end with his violent and cruel passing his character would not have failed him. That was the man, son, brother, uncle and friend he was.
This is the Brent we will cherish and remember.
Brent was preceded in death by his grandmothers Patricia Hetland and Polly Watson Kennedy and his stepmother Vikki Peltomaa. He is survived by his father Walter J. Peltomaa, his mother Stena Kennedy Thorlton, his siblings Alyssa (Norm) Pedersen, Matthew (Maggie) Kennedy, Derrick (Alison) Sampson, Darren Sampson and Danielle McGuire together with his nephews Isaak and Ian Pedersen, Oliver and Morgan Sampson, and Dylan and Elliott Sampson and many, uncles, aunts and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Tacoma Rescue Mission or to Lakeside- Milam Recovery Centers.
