Brandon T. Elston's Obituary
Brandon passed away at 6 pm December 5, 2025 at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA due to a sudden illness. Cremation has been selected and Celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date. We loved him dearly, and will miss him forever.
Survived by his parents Brenda K.(Thompson)Elston and Dale K. Elston, his younger brother Jeremy, and his fiance Neely Chesnut, Grandfather Don R. Elston, Aunts Rebecca (Elston) Fisher, Rhonda (Thompson)Ellis, Lisa (Ramirez)Elston, Uncles Dirk Elston, Edwin Elston, and Herb Ellis. Immediate family that have passed before Brandon include Grandmother Barbara (Stahl)Elston, Grandmother Betty (Carter)Thompson, Grandfather Robert Thompson, and Uncle Mark Fisher. First cousins also surviving are: Rebecca’s children Andy, Mellissa, Amy. Ed’s children Levi, Joel, Alyssa. Rhonda’s children Sarah, Derek, Rachael.
First resided in Grover Hill, OH, and his earliest school years were at Grover Hill Elementary. Much of the Elston and Stahl families also resided in or near Grover Hill during these years. Many Holidays and Birthdays were celebrated together with family, and family outings to various fun places for kids, such as Welcome park,
Cascades park, Hocking Hills, Toledo zoo, Ft. Wayne zoo, Cedar Point, ect. In the winter of !984-1985 Dale, Brenda and Brandon spent 3 months in Florida with Brenda’s sister Rhonda and family. Brother Jeremy was born in 1987.
In 1990 moved with his family to Ft. Wayne, IN on Riverton Dr. north of the city. He loved being on Teams, including Baseball, Football, Debate, Soccer. He also started collecting Baseball cards and memorabilia. His Aunt Rebecca also lived in town, and a lot of time was spent with her family during this time. Also, Grandparents Don and Barbara Elston would attend some of the games of Baseball, Football, and Soccer that Brandon and Jeremy participated in. Grandparents Betty and Robert Thompson also lived in Ft. Wayne, and spent a lot of time with Brandon and Jeremy.
In 1998 he moved with his family to Beavercreek, OH, and Graduated high school in 2001. During this time he worked at Dark Star used Book store, and started collecting vinyl LPs, books, and comic books, as well as more baseball memorabilia. He developed an interest in drawing and illustration which he maintained for the
rest of his life. In 1999 Brandon and family traveled to Boston and met with his Uncle Dirk Elston for a few days. He experienced his first Pro Baseball game at Fenway park, and on the way home we visited the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, NY.
In 2007 he applied to and was accepted at The Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, VT. He earned his 2 year degree, and, with great pride, his parents attended his graduation in 2009.
He lived in White River Junction for a few years, helping tutor new students at the Center. Also, was coeditor along with James Sturm of the book: Denys Wortmans’s New York published in 2010. Moved to Hanover, NH for some years, then moved to Tacoma, WA in 2018. He met and lived with Neely Chesnut in Tacoma, his future fiance, and they worked together at the Daily Dozen, a coffee and donut shop in the Pike Place Market, Seattle.
