Boyd Smith's Obituary
Boyd D. Smith Known to friends as "Smitty", passed away 10/13/12.
He is interred at Mountain View and at his request, no service was held. He is survived by his daughter Stephanie Arildson (Dan) and grandsons Sam, Jack and Max; siblings LarRees Hess, Jeanette (Caudill) Stone, Gail Hamlin and Paul Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Asbjornsen and grandson Jefferson Arildson.
Boyd was born to Edwin and Lar Rees Smith at St. Joes on 6/17/43 in Tacoma. He attended Fern Hill, Baker, Lincoln and Wilson before volunteering for the United States Marine Corps. He earned a Purple Heart during the Vietnam War and was very proud of his service. Following his honorable discharge from the USMC, Boyd was a truck driver for Architectural Woods and a Teamster (Local 313) for 30 years.
Boyd enjoyed classic cars, good-naturedly "harassing folks", smoking Camels and drinking Rainier. In retirement he enjoyed boating, home improvement projects, football season (#1 Seahawks fan), and a quiet life on Spanaway Lake.
