Bonnie Jean Nadeau's Obituary
Beloved Mother Bonnie Jean (Rolland) Nadeau, a lifelong resident of Tacoma and Parkland, Washington, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2008 at her Charlton Place residence in Tacoma. She was born in Tacoma on December 6, 1927. While attending Stadium High School, Bonnie met the love of her life, Jerome F. Nadeau (Jerry) at a local roller skating rink. In 1946, they were married at her parent's home in Tacoma. Not long after their marriage, they purchased a home in Parkland, Washington, where they raised their three children. Bonnie remained at the family home until several years after Jerry's passing, then chose a simpler life at Charlton Place in 2003. She was a dedicated and beloved mother and teacher of life's important values. As her own children moved into adulthood, Bonnie operated a day care service in her home for many years. Her love and encouragement positively affected the futures of numerous young people. She was an avid square dancer and bowler, as well as card and board game player. Throughout her life, Bonnie held a special passion for the card game Pinochle and the dice game, Yahtzee. As with any game or activity in which Bonnie participated, it was important to her to enjoy the experience, not needing to win or be the best. Her game playing was an avenue for social interaction and laughter which were shared with family, friends, children, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years in 1993, her parents Emma and John Rolland; her brother Robert; and her sisters, Lorraine (Canipe) and June (Redford). Bonnie is survived by her sons: Gary L. (Mary) and Dennis M. (Mary) and daughter Marilynn J. (David) Sams, 5 grandchildren: Paul, Douglas, Kathryn, and Jeremy Nadeau and Michelle Shaw; as well as 9 great grandchildren. A service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 3:00 pm in the Valley Chapel at Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood (253-584-0252).
