Bonnie Bell McLean's Obituary
Bonnie Belle McLean passed away January 31st. She was born in 1931 in Mount Vernon, Washington to Edna and Tony Lundgren and spent her childhood in Bellingham, Washington. She attended Bellingham High School and Western Washington University. Bonnie moved to Seattle and was employed by Simpson Timber as a receptionist. On a blind date, she met and eventually married Archie McLean and soon thereafter they moved to Los Angeles where he had been hired as a bank examiner. After a year, they returned and lived all of their lives in Lakewood, Washington. Bonnie loved dancing. She started dance lessons at age five and continued for eight years. At thirteen years old, she taught tap dance. Over the years, she enjoyed watching ballet and figure skating. Bonnie was also passionate and talented at gardening-from flowers to vegetables, she loved anything that grew. But most important of all were the relationships she cherished with her family and with her many friends. Bonnie was active in a number of social, civic and charitable organizations. She was a member of the Tacoma Junior League, Tacoma Garden Club, Tacoma Country and Golf Club, Washington Athletic Club and the Tacoma Orthopedic Guild #10. She was a Lifetime Friend of Lakewold Gardens. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Archie of 47 years and a brother James Vaughan Lundgren. Surviving family members include sister Patricia Ann Wigner of Seattle; son Scott (wife Susan); son Mark and his children Ryan, Alec, Spencer; and daughter Marsi (husband Shane) and their children Mclean and Clare. Bonnie and the family wish to thank Dr. Frank Senecal and his staff for their compassionate care during these past three years. A celebration of Bonnie's life will occur at Lake City Community Church this Thursday, February 4th at 1:00 pm, located in Lakewood, Washington at 8810 Lawndale Avenue SW at the northeast corner of Veterans Drive and Alameda Avenue. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make a contribution to a charity of your choice.
