Bock Sun Hayes' Obituary
Bock S. Hayes resident of Pierce County since 1959, peacefully passed away on September 15, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was 88 years young. Bock Hayes was born on December 7, 1931 at Cholla Pulado, Korea. Roo Bock Sun met and married James A. Hayes on February 24, 1953 in Pusan Korea. James Hayes was in the U.S. Army station in Pusan Korea during the Korean war. Roo Bock Sun worked for the Red Cross when she met Sergeant First Class James Hayes, fell in love and got married. Roo Bock Sun, gave birth to a baby girl on or about July 22, 1952. The father of the child was Sergeant First Class James A. Hayes. The baby girl died from severe head cold on or about July 27, 1952. On September 20, 1953, then Bock Hayes gave birth to a baby boy whose name is Robert Lee Hayes. Bock Hayes, James Hayes and their new born son, Robert Lee Hayes came to the United States in February of 1954. In 1959, the couple bought a home in Tacoma, Washington where they lived for 29 years. During those 29 years, Bock Hayes worked very hard and diligently at various jobs. At one time she worked one job at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, a second job at Sherwood Inn and still did all the house cleaning, cooking, and yard work at the home. Bock Hayes retired from working at Western State Hospital in Steilacoom, Washington as a Food Service Dietitian for 26 years. James Hayes died on August 4, 1980 of pancreatitis, a bleeding stomach ulcer, and fatty deposits in the liver. Bock Hayes had a long history with pain and suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis since even as far back as when she was in her 20s. Her conditions gradually worsen over the years until her death. There were signs toward the last years of life that Bock Hayes had alzheimer disease.
Bock Hayes is survived by the following family members: her only beloved son, Robert Lee Hayes who has no children and never married. No. Chong Hak of Seoul, South Korea and his family and Seongrin Ro of Seoul, South Korea and her family. There are no other family members.
