Bobby Joe Atkins' Obituary
Bobby Joe AtkinsBob was born in Pensacola, NC on June 23, 1931 and raised in Burnsville, NC. He joined the Navy, serving in UDT (Team 12) and SEAL (Team 1) teams for 22 years. After retiring as a Chief BoatswainÂ's Mate, he worked as manager of University Place Water Company for 10 years. He then went into real estate and property management. He loved sports and was an avid Curtis High School football supporter. Over 26 years he only missed two games. He was a member of Tacoma Elks, Fleet Reserve Association, Navy SEAL Special Warfare and UDT-SEAL Museum Association.He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis, three daughters Karyn (Phil) Lund of Tacoma, Susan (Brian) Fogde and Kristin (Troy) Yost both of Gig Harbor, grandchildren Brynna, Khrystina, Christopher, Jeffrey, Alexander, Cameron and Quinn, extended family and friends. The family wants to thank the staff and doctors at Madigan Army Hospital for all the care, love and compassion they have given to Bob and the family over the years.Bob passed away February 3, 2003 after a long battle with chronic heart disease. Gaga will be missed. HooYaa.Services will be held at 1 P.M. Friday, February 7, 2003 in the Mountain View Valley Chapel.
