Bob McConnell's Obituary
Bob McConnell "Policeman and Nice Guy" June 26, 1935 - April 18, 2008 Bob served in the U.S. Navy, earning his Dolphins as a Submariner. In 1956 he began his career as a police officer for Tacoma, Washington. He married his wife Jodi in 1967. From 1968 to 1969 he attended the Law Enforcement Management Course, wrote the grant for, and directed, the S.T.E.P. project for the City of Tacoma. In 1971 Bob and Jodi's son Joel was born. In 1983 Bob retired from police work and started a 14-year career as the co-owner of B&J Catering with Jodi. It was a natural extension of their love for cooking and entertaining. To share in their love for cooking they also taught gourmet cooking classes for 4 years at TCC. Preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Verna McConnell, and his sister Luella Edensword. He also leaves to mourn his 2 grandchildren, Maxwell and Claire McConnell, and a large number of family and friends that he loved very much. A vigil will be held May 1st at 7PM. The funeral will be held May 2, 2008 at 12:10PM. Both will be held at St. Leo's Church, located at 710 South 13th Street, Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Leo's Neighborhood Clinic or L'arche Tahoma Hope.
