Billy Wayne Cantrell's Obituary
At the age of 80 Billy lost his battle with cancer, he handled cancer on his own terms, and he choose to live his life to the fullest, spending his time with friends and family.
Billy Wayne Cantrell was born July 9th 1943 to William and Louise Cantrell in Corvallis, Oregon. He traveled extensively with his family due to his father's service in the Army. Attending several schools in his younger years, he graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma. Billy served in the Navy reserves his last year and a half in high school. After graduating he followed his father and enlisted in the Army, serving for 3 years and being discharged in 1965. He had the privilege of serving as an Honor guard for President John F Kennedy during his time in the Army.
After leaving the Army, Billy worked several different jobs throughout his life, but by far his favorite and most rewarding was his last as the Security Manager with Fred Meyer DC in Puyallup, WA, retiring at the age of 70.
Billy had a passion for music that lasted till the end; he had a passion for Elvis, early rock and roll, sixties, seventies, eighties, and country. By far his love for his family showed throughout is life.
Billy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lester and Lydia Collins; his father, William; his mother, Louise; and his brother, Bobby.
Billy is survived by his wife of over thirty years, Becky; his children: David, Gene, Dean, Leandra (Jeff), and Tracie (Roman); his step-children: Faith (Richard), Angie (Gene), and Mike (Brittany); 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings: Sandy, Gene, Joyce (Dan), and Jeff (Sue); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Billy on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11:30am, in Mountain View Funeral Home's Garden Chapel. A Graveside Service with military honors is to follow in Mountain View Memorial Park's Westlawn section.
