Beverly Fennimore's Obituary
Beverly Zann Appel Fennimore passed away November 19, 2022. She was born November 4, 1943, in Walla Walla, Washington to Gene and Mary Jane Fennimore (née Appel). At the age of eight, her family moved to University Place and she graduated from Clover Park High School in 1962. Bev attended Washington State University, where she played volleyball and basketball for the Cougars. She shared they could only dribble twice and played halfcourt. She graduated in 1966 with a BA in Education. In 2007 she was retroactively awarded her WSU Letter for basketball at a ceremony held at Washington State University during the women’s basketball halftime. Bev started teaching 6th grade in Auburn school District in 1967. After marrying, she and her family relocated several times. Living in Southern and Northern California, Hawaii, Michigan, and Nebraska before returning to Western Washington. Along the way, she remained active volunteering at each school district her children attended. She was awarded volunteer of the year for creating an all-volunteer physical education program for the elementary school in Clarkston, MI. Bev continued to play sports including volleyball, softball, golf and won a racquetball tournament.
Bev started teaching at Bear Creek Elementary in 1987 as a third-grade teacher, Bev continued her education getting a Masters in Education in 1994. Bev was known as the neighborhood Mom. As a teacher she implemented a field trip to Pioneer Farms that created special memories for her third graders. She was a dedicated Cougar her whole life, and even taught her third grade class the fight song yearly for the Apple Cup and proudly walked around the school singing it for all. She loved her Cougars and all sports. Bev inherited the baking ability from her mom, and baked Christmas cookies, and Chex Mix that her children, students, co-workers and friends looked forward to each year.
Her greatest love was her family and friends that became family through the years. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She received much joy attending her children, grandchildren, and students’ events of all kinds. She attended every Woodinville High Graduation of her former students.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and son Geoffrey Palmer. Survivors include her son, Gregory Palmer of Bothell; Daughter Kasie (Sean) Jordan of Bothell; daughter-in-law Christina Esguerra of Federal Way; Grandchildren Jerry, Kiana, Xander and Ethan, and several cousins, nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stop Soldier Suicide at www. stopsoldiersuicide.org. There will be a private gravesite gathering for the family.
