Beverly Jean Davis

Beverly Davis, 76, of Olympia, WA. passed away on October 4, 2011 after a long courageously fought battle with cancer. Beverly was the daughter of Mabel and Willard Jones. She was born November 15, 1934 in Mitchell, South Dakota. She graduated from Stadium High School, Tacoma in 1952. She enrolled that fall in University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA. and completed her Sophomore year. She was active in the Chi Omega Sorority. She married James R. Miller in 1954. They had four children; Shelley, Michael, Stephen, and Lisa. Twelve years after Beverly left University of Puget Sound, she enrolled at University of Washington. She took classes during the day, while her four children were in school, and supplemented with extension and night classes. After earning her degree in Education in 1969, she taught second grade at Issaquah Elementary school for four years.
The family moved to Olympia in 1973 and Beverly taught second grade at Michael T. Simmons Elementary school. Beverly and James Miller divorced in 1981. She met Merle Davis at a school board meeting and married him in 1983. Beverly loved teaching and retired after 23 wonderful years of teaching children. She was married to Merle for 28 years. They enjoyed their retirement together and traveled the world and wintered in Palm Springs.
She is survived by her husband, Merle Davis of Olympia, WA., daughter and son-in-law Shelley and Mark Seidenverg of Bend, OR., son Michael Miller of Tenino, WA., son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Cindy Miller of Oxnard, CA., daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Randy Fisher of Portland, OR., one Grandson, Aaron Miller of Rochester, WA. and four Granddaughters, Lindsay Seidenverg of Denali, AK., Lauren Miller of Olympia, WA., Amy Seidenverg of Bend, OR., and Ashlee Brooks of Phoenix, AZ., one Great Grandson, Easton Miller of Rochester, WA. and sister and brother-in-law Darlene and Marc Maurmann of Gig Harbor, WA.
A memorial is pending. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beverly's honor to Providence Sound Home Care and Hospice.
