Betty Jo McAtee's Obituary
Betty Jo McAtee “Atwell”, 87, passed away on April 21, 2017, at Family Life Center in Puyallup, Wa. She was surrounded by her children, grandkids and great grandkids. She was so happy to see us all together. Betty was born on September 15, 1929, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Nathaniel Atwell and Sadie Mae Atwell “Martin”
Betty grew up in San Diego California, she moved there at the age of three. She graduated from San Diego High School. They used to call it the old gray castle. Shortly after high school in 1948 she met and married Wilford Harold “Bill” Noble and moved to Tacoma, Washington. They raised 4 children Diana Lynn Noble “Thompson”, Wilford Harold “Joe” Noble, Robert Lee “Bob” Noble, Michael James “Mike” Noble. They spent much time at their cabin “Huckle Chuck”. Sometime she would spend a week or two in the summer up there with her kids. Bill and Betty had many friend and enjoyed getting together with them. After many years they divorced in 1984.
Betty remarried in 1989 to William D. “Bill” McAtee. Bill brought with him 2 children Pamela Ann “Pam” McAtee, and William D “Bill” McAtee. They enjoyed every minute of their time together traveling in their RV, meeting with friends, and enjoying family time to its fullest. Bills death was to say at least one of the two hardest things she had ever gone through, the first being the loss of her grandson Thomas Lionel Thompson 3. They are greatly missed by all.
Betty worked hard most of her life, she first started working cleaning her Sunday school teachers house every Saturday for .50 cents an hour. She later worked for Cornet drug store, and then Peoples department store. Her final job was working in the food service department at Franklin Pierce School Dist. Where she retired.
Betty was very talented, she loved to sew, tole paint, making fabric picture frames, and stuffed dolls for all her grandkids and others.
Some of her fondest stories involved riding motor cycles “Harleys, and Indians” She even got to take a ride with her son “Joe” on his Harley on Mothers Day, That unfortunately would be her last. Betty also was very conscience about her health and attended many 3K and 5K walks throughout her life. She was an active member in Top, winning the TOP Cop award.
Betty is survived by all her 6 children , 3 grand kids, 8 great grand kids, 4 step daughters, and 9 step great grandkids.
A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park, on Saturday April 6, at 1:00pm. In the Garden Chapel.
