Betty Jean Stewart (Brundage)Betty Jean Stewart (Brundage) was born on August 13, 1926 in Santa Cruz, California, to Tom and Clara Brundage, descendants of early California pioneers. Betty graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen and later attended Washington State College where she was a charter member of Alpha Phi Sorority. Betty majored in architecture at WSC and captured the heart of fellow architecture student, Roger J. Stewart, her husband of 55 years. After graduation Betty and Roger built their first home in Fircrest, Washington where she co-founded a cooperative preschool and became very involved in Wainwright Elementary School PTA, Fircrest Methodist Church (serving as President). When her children were in school Betty took a position with the Washington State Department of Employment Security as a job interviewer and later as a job developer. Betty was an avid swimmer, hiker, tennis player and bridge player. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and friends, her energy and enthusiasm, and her commitment to community service.Survived by her husband Roger, her sister Dororthy Johnston of Seattle, her children Sharon Armstrong and Beckie Stewart of Seattle, Tom Stewart of Olympia, Rodney Stewart of Oak Hills, CA, and her grandchildren Jeffrey, Brian, Christopher, Kathleen, Sarah, Holly, Hilary and Laura. A memorial service will be held at Fircrest United Methodist Church, 1018 Columbia Avenue, Fircrest, at 1:00 pm on August 21, 2002. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be mailed to the AlzheimerÂ's Association of Seattle, 12721 30th Avenue NE Seattle, WA 98125
